Bill, believe it or not, was born in a cemetery and is therefore NOT looking forward to going home! (It was a stormy night and his mother was snowed in at the house of a relative who was a caretaker at the cemetery). There was no choice except to be born there. Just for the record, the house is long gone but fortunately, for Bill anyway – he’s still here!

During school age, Bill worked on the family farm in Northwest Iowa near Wall Lake......Andy Williams’ home town too but that's not Bill’s fault. Bill walked a mile to country school before eventually being bussed five miles to town and graduating with the Class of 1959. He then worked as a bank teller where the big payoff was meeting his bride-to-be, Karaan. They have been married for over 40 years and also to each other! Bill has sold insurance, put in six years with the army, and started in the telecom field in 1966 with Northwestern Bell. His "early retirement" started in March 1990 when he took the retirement offer to accept a job at Principal Financial Group as their nationwide telecom manager. Bill’s 2nd "early retirement" started November 2002 when that position was destined to be outsourced, so he opted to take retirement again. His 3rd "early retirement" will be the moment just prior to anyone setting his schedule and/or giving him flak. (Folks said retirement would be good but they were wrong.......It's a whole lot better than that if one is doing what he/she wants to do).

Currently, Bill helps out with the maintenance around the Balmoral Castle and/or one or more of the Gremler residences. He says he is trying to train the grass to grow only to a height of three and one-half inches, but he hasn’t yet accomplished that. So, it must take more than the couple of years that Bill has been working on it around here.

One of these days perhaps, Bill will get back into the swing of things, namely golf. He can spend all day on farming or golf, whichever he starts doing first in the day. So far, "farming" for Gremler Financial Group has won out but be "fore warned", it could change with the first sunny, calm, and seventy two degree day! Golf is best when one plays in the 60's or lower 70's but.....it can still be fun even if it gets warmer than that.
